A few years ago on a hike up Mt. Kilimanjaro something happened that was both surprising and special. It was the last day of our climb, and we woke up at 3am to make our run at the Summit.
It was dark those first few hours with only light from our headlamps. Then as I looked to my left the sunrise over the valley took my breath away. I was completely in awe of the view, the beauty and the vastness of mountains around us.
In that moment, I was moved deeply by something. I thought of my family, and colleagues at home and how much they meant to me. I looked around at my friends…we had come so far together. The view, the moment, the journey, the simplicity…it all had me feeling completely alive and more connected to humanity.
I didn’t know it yet, but in that moment Intentional Movement was born.
That experience feeling so connected to humanity got us thinking at the Center for Intentional Leadership. We asked ourselves how we could leverage our 20 years of developing leaders along with the idea of being outside to inspire greater social impact. This would be our movement to create opportunity and leverage leaders for change.
Our idea was born deep from our core on the mountain that morning. And we want to share it with you.
So grab your pack and come move with us in the wild. We promise you a remarkable journey.
